Côte Newbury
Tucked away in the heart of Newbury at 102-103 Northbrook Street, Côte Newbury delivers a slice of French bistro culture that feels like a gentle escape to Paris without the need for a passport. Whether you're strolling in for a leisurely breakfast, a solo lunch, or a cozy dinner with wine in hand, this spot has carved out a name for itself as a go-to for food lovers looking for quality, consistency, and charm.
One of the standout things about Côte Newbury is its atmosphere. There’s a touch of sophistication to the place, but it never feels pretentious. You’re greeted with an elegant interior, soft lighting, and a spacious layout that includes wheelchair-accessible seating, a thoughtful touch that makes the restaurant inviting for everyone. For those who prefer a breeze with their bites, outdoor seating adds an extra flair, especially when paired with a crisp glass of Chardonnay.
Now, let’s talk about the menu - where Côte Newbury truly shines. From traditional French classics to modern delights, it’s packed with well-executed dishes that balance indulgence with freshness. Start your day with a Côte Breakfast or the French Toast Stack layered with fruit and syrup - both popular picks among regulars. If you lean towards savory, the Full English Breakfast served on toasted sourdough baguette is hearty and satisfying.
For lunch or dinner, there’s a clear crowd favorite: the Sirloin Steak with Peppercorn Sauce. It’s the kind of dish that never disappoints - juicy, tender, and elevated by a sauce that’s rich but not overpowering. Pair it with Moules Frites or the elegant Salmon Ratatouille if you're craving something on the lighter side. Another hit? The Confit Pork Belly, which offers that melt-in-the-mouth texture and crisp crackling that’s so hard to find done right.
If you’re leaning toward something classically comforting, the Beef Bourguignon or Filet Mignon delivers warmth and depth with every forkful. And for those who appreciate a good share board, the Charcuterie Board is ideal for grazing over cocktails or wine with friends. Speaking of which, Côte Newbury doesn’t slack in the drink department. Their great wine list and cocktail selection ensure that you’ve always got the perfect pairing, whether you’re in the mood for a robust red or something with a splash of citrus.
When it comes to sweet endings, the desserts deserve their own spotlight. The Crème Caramel is a silky classic that hits all the right nostalgic notes, while the Tarte Aux Pommes adds a crisp, fruity contrast that’s beautifully balanced with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Those looking for something a bit lighter often opt for the Flan or Hot Chocolate, which, by the way, is rich and velvety enough to count as a dessert on its own.
Côte Newbury also caters to a wide range of dietary preferences. Whether you're vegan, vegetarian, or hunting for healthy options, the menu is well-marked and inclusive. You’ll find organic ingredients scattered throughout, and even a quick bite can feel like a moment of indulgence here.
Service is relaxed yet attentive, the kind that makes solo diners feel welcome and returning guests feel remembered. And while Côte doesn’t offer delivery or takeaway, that decision seems intentional-it’s a place that encourages guests to dine in, linger, and truly enjoy the experience.
Tea drinkers and coffee lovers alike will appreciate their great tea selection and expertly brewed coffee, especially during those mid-afternoon breaks when you need a warm cup and a quiet moment.
Overall, Côte Newbury strikes a lovely balance between everyday comfort and special-occasion charm. It’s a rare gem where the setting, service, and menu all work together to deliver an effortlessly enjoyable experience-from breakfast to dinner, and everything in between.

I visited recently for my friends 45th birthday, and actually had a terrible night because for some reason unbeknownst to me my body decided to fail me entirely and pass out in the doorway of the establishment, luckily before this happened I was able to eat some wonderful food and enjoy the fantastic environment of your restaurant, the chicken dish was exquisite and service impeccable, I also really loved the garlic bread pretzel type work of art we had as a starter, maybe the best thing I’ve ever tasted, and I’ve eaten quite a lot of things. Adam suggested some delicious wine which complimented perfectly and he made sure we had a night to remember (not that I’ll forget the night I lost my dignity in the space of an hour) on that note I also have to shout out Kamal who helped me from the floor and looked after me as if I were his first born child. You are all fantastic, you went above and beyond for us and if I ever forget the embarrassment of the evening I’ll be back, just you wait.
Amazing steak was really well presented and tasted very good. For starter we went with the garlic bread. i would definitely recommend that. The service i was impressed however they did miss-bill us they were very prompt to correct it which was fine. The restaurants atmosphere was quite busy but that's what you expect from a good restaurant! All in all, nice location in Newbury and well suited interior.
Three visits in the last two weeks and everything was amazing! Excellently cooked and perfect sized portions. Kayleigh is absolutely a jewel of a waitress that is so charming and goes out of her way to accommodate in any way possible. Honestly amazing service!
I visited Cöte in Newbury for the first time last night for a belated birthday meal with my parents. I was highly impressed with the excellent food and the exceptional service, particularly from our waitress Kayleigh. I had a filet steak cooked to perfection medium rare, I usually ask for rare because most places overcook slightly, but the chef at Cöte cooked it perfectly medium rare. The steak itself was excellent, in my top 5 ever, and I eat a lot of steak. The peppercorn sauce was creamy and delicious. I also had the cheese soufflé which was super tasty, light and a wonderful cheese and herb taste, I would definitely have it again. Their wine selection is great and I particularly enjoyed their cinnamon espresso martini, very moreish. All of the staff were too notch, our waitress Kayleigh was wonderful, they even got me a birthday card which was a lovely touch. Unfortunately I live 100 miles away from this branch, but I would definitely return the next time I come to visit my family. Highly recommended.
We recently had the pleasure of dining at Cote in Newbury, a modern all-day French brasserie chain that boasts a menu filled with regional specialties and traditional classics. From the moment I stepped in, the warm ambiance and inviting decor set the stage for what turned out to be a truly delightful culinary experience. The staff at Cote Newbury played a significant role in making our visit memorable. Right from the beginning, we were greeted by the friendly and professional waitstaff, including the attentive waitress, Alice, and the courteous waiter, Virvan. Their genuine warmth and eagerness to ensure a pleasant dining experience were evident throughout our time at the restaurant. Our dining experience was elevated by the expertise of the waiter, John, who guided us through the selection of cheeses for the cheese platter. John's approachability and wisdom in curating the perfect cheese assortment were truly commendable. His recommendations showcased a deep understanding of flavor profiles and a genuine enthusiasm for sharing the best the restaurant had to offer. In conclusion, our visit to Cote in Newbury was nothing short of spectacular. The combination of delectable cuisine, attentive service from staff like Alice, Virvan, and John, and the overall welcoming atmosphere makes Cote a must-visit for anyone craving an exceptional French dining experience.
